Zakynthos, or Zante, has a vast plain fringed with beaches to the east, while in the west, the mountains of Vrachionas form a spectacular landscape of white cliffs gnawed into by caves and arches. The contrast is also perceptible between the hinterland, where pines, vines and olive trees grow, and the surroundings of the sandy beaches, full of tourists and devoid of charm. To see the best of the island, take a boat tour around it, admire Gerakas's clear waters or go to Keri Cape at sundown.
