The UNESCO-listed Lonja (Silk Exchange) was built in the 15C at the request of the city's silk merchants, as the old building was considered too small for the volume of business conducted there. Its Flamboyant Gothic façade, crowned by a tower, is adorned with a crenellated ridge-piece decorated with gargoyles. In the old trading hall, the high ribbed vaults are supported by elegant twisted columns and lit by windows with fine tracery.
