Flanked by the long façade of the hospital, the neo-Gothic Archbishop's Palace and the Prefecture, Piazza del Duomo is presided over by the famous cathedral. Decorated with two-tone marble stripes, the cathedral was intended by the people of Siena to be the largest building in the Christian world. Its famous bell tower made of two-tone marble rises high into the air, and two columns crowned with the She-Wolf of Siena stand at the corners of the staircase leading to the cathedral.
