This private art museum, founded in Sakata in 1947 by the Homma family, is housed in a modern building where different themes are showcased depending on the exhibitions (from antique to contemporary art). In the garden, a lovely wooden structure, Seienkaku (1813), was created at the same time as Kakubu-en or "the dancing crane" garden. A walk through the garden reveals a poetic mixture of ponds, islands, artificial hills, rocks and lanterns.
