This attractive pedestrian avenue acquired its current appearance between 1850 and 1930, during which period a mixture of historicist, Secession, futurist and rationalist buildings were erected here. On the Square of the Adriatic (Jadranski trg), note the Rationalist-style "skyscraper of Rijeka", also known as the "chest of drawers". The widest section of the Korso is home to Secession-style buildings, as well as to the lovely Karolina shopping store, a good example of early 20C iron architecture.
