Lasithi Plateau is a huge oval plain at an altitude of 800m, hemmed in by mountains. This once fertile land dotted with windmills may have seen the arrival of tourism but that's not to say it doesn't still cultivate a certain art of living. The edge of the plateau is dotted with peaceful villages. In particular, see Agios Georgios with its Folklore Museum, Vidianis Monastery and the small museum about the plateau's ecosystem, Kardiotissas Monastery and lastly Dikteon Cave.
