The museum is housed in the Hôtel de St Germain, a fine 16C complex, the exterior of which was reworked in the 18C and the interior in the 19C. You can see a traditional Pézenas interior, 16C, 17C and 18C furniture, and mementoes relating to Molière, who worked as an actor in Pézenas from 1650 until he left for Paris in 1657. Among them, the famous armchair where Molière would sit in the barber Gély's shop, observing the regulars to gain inspiration for his characters.
