This maze of medieval lanes is one of the oldest districts in Paris. Rue de la Harpe is the ancient north-south Gallo-Roman road; Rue de la Parcheminerie is where copyists and public writers had their stalls. Today, wine cellars and Greek restaurants have taken over the streets of Saint-Séverin and La Huchette. What about The Bald Soprano? She still does her hair in the same way and the play by Eugène Ionesco has been playing continuously at the Huchette theatre since 1957!
