The Duomo is adorned with no fewer than 135 extraordinarily intricate spires and an impressive number of graceful, elegant white marble statues (almost 2 250 in total). With its pinnacles, buttresses and statues, the terraces command a superb panoramic view over the city and, on a clear day, the Alps. At the very top, the "Tiburio", a 108m-high spire, is crowned by a gilded statue of the Madonnina (1774).
