The Palazzo Ducale is an imposing complex. The Magna Domus and the Palazzo del Capitano, built by the Bonacolsi (lords of Mantua from 1273 to 1328) in the late 13C, form the hub of the Corte Vecchia. The Gothic-style Castello di San Giorgio was added in the 14C. The Corte Nuova comprises the buildings added by the Gonzaga in the 15C and 16C, next to the 16C Palatine chapel of Santa Barbara. The Pisanello room and the sinopie are the highlights of the visit.
