Martinique's first zoo is located in the remarkable setting of the estate once owned by Captain Latouche. Founded in 1643, this plantation was destroyed by lava in 1902, then subsequently transformed into a botanical garden by landscape gardener Jean-Philippe Thoze. A hundred different animal species are now housed here in huge enclosures and aviaries. A pleasant walkway allows you to explore the exotic gardens and wander amongst the old ruins of the sugar factory. A magical visit.
