In the centre of Kremnica's Lower Town lies the main, sloping square, called the Market Square. In its lower part stands a magnificent Baroque column, richly carved, on which the figure of the Holy Trinity can be admired. It was designed in the late 18C to commemorate the victims of the great plague of 1710. To the west of the square, the Franciscan monastery, dominated by a high tower, was built between 1653 and 1660.
