One of the richest collections of Antiquity in the world. Once past the monumental Roman statue of Bes, look out for the sarcophagus of Alexander the Great (4C BCE), decorated with bas-reliefs, that of Sidamara, in white marble, friezes from the temple of Hecate and the ephebe of Tralles, of striking delicacy. The collections also showcase Anatolian civilisations, particularly Troy, and Syria, Palestine and Cyprus. A wing is devoted to Istanbul and its region.
