Charles V had this palace built in 1526. Pedro Machuca, a pupil of Michelangelo, created a work of pure Classicism, endowed with particularly majestic beauty. The circular courtyard is one of the finest accomplishments of Renaissance architecture in Spain and impressive both in terms of its splendid appearance and Classical lines. Concerts are held here as part of the music and dance festival. The palace houses the Museum of the Alhambra and the Fine Art Museum.
