A chancel, nave and Gothic portals were added to the original Romanesque basilica, built in 1154 on a hill occupied by the citadel. The main portal is formed by two doors, supporting elegant statutory groups reminiscent of those of the work of French master masons. Several works of art grace the interior, such as the Romanesque Altar of the Virgin (1160), the statue candelabra (1160) and a few stunning stained-glass windows (chancel).
