Époisses Castle, surrounded by a double moat, looks rather impressive. The entrance porch leads into a real village including a 12C church and a Renaissance dovecot (3 000 holes). Before crossing the second moat, look at the 4 towers linking the buildings and note the finely wrought well. The interior offers a succession of galleries and drawing rooms containing a wealth of Louis XIV furniture, paintings and mementoes recalling some of the castle's famous guests such as Henri IV and Chateaubriand.
