With an $8 million renovation completed in 1998, this spacious two-level museum includes a reference library, auditorium and the Arts Festival Plaza, which features a reflecting pool, waterfall and performance areas.The Works on Paper Collection showcases drawings and prints from the 16-20C, including Cézanne, Degas, Picasso, Goya and Rivera. The American Collection (late 18C-mid-20C) has works by Frederic Remington and post-Depression Figurative painter Moses Soyer. The Samuel Kress Collection highlights 13-18C European paintings and sculpture, including pieces by Canaletto and Van Dyck. The Spanish Viceroyal Collection features 17-19C artists and includes Mexican folk retablos. The Contemporary Collection emphasizes pieces created in the American Southwest and Mexico since 1945.
