The small Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption-et-St-Joseph, one of the most elegant churches on the island, features a timber frame in the shape of boat hull. Inside there is a fresco (1863) by Henry Daymier, depicting the Holy Trinity, together with a remarkable mosaic. Scallop shells above the portal and on the stoups are evidence of the reconstruction of the sanctuary in the 18C by the Dominicans, following a fire that destroyed the initial edifice built by the Jesuits.
