The Pnyx forms an amphitheatre where the People's Assemblies were held, from the 6C-4C BC. This was a democratic meeting of citizens, where famous orators such as Themistocles, Pericles and Demosthenes spoke. In the 4C, participation in the institution waned to the extent that the police of the time had to use force in order to obtain quorum! A fantastic view of the Acropolis from the terrace!
