This, the highest of Athens' eight hills at 278m, offers stunning views of the Acropolis, as well as Hymetus, Pentelikos and Parnis peaks, Piraeus, and occasionally even as far as the islands of Aegina and Salamis. Agios Georgios chapel (19C) stands at the summit, alongside the outdoor terraces of two café-restaurants. Heading down to Kolonaki, the path crosses attractive terraced gardens. On the "northern face" (facing Strefi hill), stands Lycabettus theatre where open-air performances take place.
