As incredible as it may seem, 2015 saw the emergence of a new 16C castle right in the middle of Amboise. Forgotten, neglected as it changed hands over the generations, the estate had gradually disappeared, buried under lush vegetation. The work of Dom Pacello da Mercogliano, master gardener of the monarchy, is finally unveiled: an Italian-inspired facade, 8 000 interior stained glass windows and gardens (15ha), planted with 170 orange and lemon trees: a superb new lease of life!
