The sober façade of Zwiefalten Church betrays nothing of its sumptuous interior decoration. Visitors entering this edifice built by J.M. Fischer between 1739 and 1753 are often struck by the profusion of colour, exuberant decoration and talent of the stucco artists. Take the time to admire the painted ceilings, pulpit, richly carved choir stalls and superb grilles (1757) surrounding the altar devoted to the Virgin Mary. Also look out for the unusual confessionals built in the form of grottoes.
