Founded in the 11C, Tagar Church was once part of a monastery. Its trefoil-shaped layout (unique in the region) and its large size makes this one of the most unusual buildings in Cappadocia. The transept crossing is crowned by a dome on a drum, surrounded by a gallery. The frescoes themselves are also remarkable, particularly those in the main apse and the apse to the left, both of which are adorned with a beautiful Deisis in green and orange.
