The seafront is made up of a long avenue widened by a promenade and called Boulevard. You can see the prison-tower from the 15C and below a large beach sheltered from the north winds. A small lighthouse and the statue of Admiral De Ruyter stand at one end of the Boulevard on an old bastion. There is an attractive view over the port and the Old Exchange (Beursgebouw), a pretty building from 1635 topped by a spire.
