Built by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the names of these two symmetrical buildings, "big" and "small", refer to their usage. The Petite Écurie was used for the carriages, team horses and the equipage. The Grande Écurie was for saddle horses. It also had an indoor riding school. Today, it houses the Musée des Carosses (sleighs, sedan chairs and 19C coaches), and the Académie Équestre National du Domaine de Versailles, founded by Bartabas (Zingaro Equestrian Theatre).
