The construction of St Louis Church occurred at the same time as the southern extension to Versailles, on the site of the former Parc aux Cerfs. Finished in 1754, it is a fine example of rocaille architecture. Inside, admire the many 18C canvases and the carved organ by Clicquot (1761), with 3,131 pipes. During the Revolution, the church hosted several sessions of the General Estates, notably the renewal of the oath of the Jeu de Paume on 22 June 1789.
