The House of Emigrants houses the most extensive archives in Europe on emigration, and a library with over 25 000 volumes. Between 1846 and 1930, the great exodus to North America, Australia or European countries concerned over 1 300 000 Swedes - almost a quarter of the population - mostly from Småland. Exhibitions on the subject and a reconstruction of the office of Vilhelm Moberg (1898-1973), author of The Emigrants, round off the visit.
