The incredibly steep Iseran Pass is one of the highest roads in France at an altitude of 2,764m/9,068ft and well-known to cyclists. The view from the pass extends from Grande Sassière to Tsanteleina on the Tarentaise slope to the Albaron on the Maurienne slope. Winter and summer alike, skiers, however, can climb higher (3,300m/10,827ft) to Grand Pissaillas glacier, which embraces the Upper Maurienne and Tarentaise ranges.
