Three churches are renowned, and rightly so, for their extensive and beautiful wall paintings and because they present remarkable examples of 15C narrative paintings. The paintings in Keldby Kirke illustrate various Old and New Testament scenes; those in the chancel date from the 13C, whereas those covering the nave vault were completed in the 15C by the Elmelunde Master, who is considered to be one of the great artists of the Middle Ages. Note also the handsome sculpted altarpiece.
