This romantically located abbey at the foot of Bourget Lake is where many sovereigns of the House of Savoie are buried. 42 princes and princesses rest here, as well as the last king of Italy, Umberto II (1904-1983). The abbey, entirely restored in neo-Gothic style, is remarkable for its extravagant ornamentation: a riot of marble and stucco, painted vaults and no less than 300 statues in memory of the princes resting here.
