In the 9C Jews settled in the street called Új before being driven away in 1526. They built a synagogue in the 14C (at n° 22-24) which was later turned into a private residence. The synagogue was rediscovered in 1967 and has since been restored with great care. At n° 28 a plaque informs passers-by that in 1944 the street was a ghetto for Sopron Jews, who were confined here until they were taken to the death camps.
