This modern building was erected in the 1930s to display the valuable, original documents of the Confederation, including the pact of 1291 or Bundesbrief, together with other franchise charters and alliance pacts. This "pantheon of great texts" can, however, be somewhat daunting if you are not Swiss or fluent in German. The murals, dating from the first half of the 20C, depict a heroic and warrior vision of the birth of the country.
