The 6hr-round journey which leads to the Vens Lakes isn't hard but does require endurance. You can either head direct to the Vens refuge or take a detour via the Col de Fer pass (2,584m), from where you can ascend the Collet de Tortisse and on up to the lakes. The mineral scenery is grandiose! As you change slopes, you will enjoy a view of Bonette peak and Blanche ridge. Before heading down, the path takes you through magnificent mountainous countryside.
