Opened in 2016, this museum is dedicated to the history of Rotterdam. It was set up inside the Timmerhuis (or "carpenter's house"), a reconstructed 1950s building, and spills over into an extension made wholly of glass and designed by Rem Koolhaas, the country's star architect. Display cases, animations and testimonials tell the story of Rotterdam from the Neolithic Age to the present day. The appealing exhibition design, activities and games will also appeal to younger visitors.
