Kalø Castle was built in 1313 to protect Århus Bay. Today, it is no more than a romantic ruin overlooking the little island joined to the mainland by an artificial embankment. As you head down towards Vrinners in the south (7km), you cross the Mols Bjerge, an area of picturesque hills. The summit, Agri Bavnehøj (137m), offers splendid panoramic views. Poskjær Stenhus, between Agri and Knebel, is a funerary chamber surrounded by a circle of 23 enormous rocks thought to date back to 3300 BC.
