The small Rue des Juifs gives onto the Cour des Juifs, the old Jewish ghetto that fell foul of a pogrom in the early 15C. At the far end is a narrow passageway and wooden staircase leading to the ramparts and the Thieves' Tower. This former defensive tower, built in 1291 and remodelled in the 15C, is 18m high and pentagonal outside and square inside.
