Raimundo de Castro Maya (1894-1968) lived in this house that nestles within a luxuriant garden. Art expert, patron and discerning collector, he adopted Brazil as his own and throughout his life here built up a collection of works by the world's greatest artists, including Picasso, Dali and Matisse, as well as Guignard and Portinari. The museum gives you a glimpse of the best of Brazil's contemporary art.
