The museum charts the extraordinary history of the canal from the project's earliest stages as conceived by Pierre-Paul Riquet, giving an idea of this ambitious plan that employed thousands of workers. Interactive model, plans, documents, portraits and photos inform on the main participants in this epic scheme, as well as the major works that Riquet designed. The garden below has a superb fountain jet. A stroll here will enlighten visitors as to some of the hydraulic techniques pertinent to the canal's operation.
