Visitors are often overwhelmed by two feelings on entering this 9C palace. Curiosity first, due to the unusual name that stems from its T- (tau in Greek) shape, evocative of early episcopal crosses; then, a deep emotion engulfs the onlooker in front of the imposing and expressive statues of the original cathedral, displayed at eye level and which have survived the passage of time and wars. Superbly restored, this UNESCO edifice is now home to the cathedral's treasury.
