This monastery on the island of Inchmahome can be reached by ferry. Among the ruins of the church (mid-13C), you will see the west doorway set in a deep recess (carved arch); the tomb in the chapterhouse shelters two fine recumbent figures, statues lying on a coffin. Mary, Queen of Scots (16C) is said to have spent some time here before setting sail for France, where she married the young King Francis II.
