The plantation is a reproduction of the Pilgrims' first village as it appeared in 1627. The Fort/Meetinghouse offers a good vantage point from which to view the entire village, with its neat rows of thatched-roof cottages similar to those inhabited by the Alden, Carver, Bradford and Standish families. Throughout, costumed guides portray specific Pilgrim settlers, chatting with visitors while performing tasks such as gardening, cooking andharvesting crops according to the methods used in the early colony.
