Located on Dzumaja Square in the lower town of Plovdiv, this venerable mosque recalls the city's Turkish history. With its walls in a harmonious blend of brick and stone, horseshoe vaulting and fine minaret, this large 14C-15C mosque is a proud structure. Inside, two domes rise above an octagonal drum. At the centre of the great hall, its floor laid with rugs, is the ablution fountain. The walls and vaulting are liberally decorated with freshly coloured paintings.
