The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts exhibits three centuries of American art. In the main building, an ornate brick and limestone Victorian-style structure (1876, Frank Furness and George Hewitt), work by artists from the 18C to the first half of the 20C is shown: Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer and Benjamin West. The neighbouring Samuel M. V. Hamilton Building (2006) has been dedicated to art since the 1950s and sculpture. Numerous temporary exhibitions.
