This round tower (said to be named after an Englishman, who was held prisoner here for 17 years) topped with a machicolated parapet dates from the late 15C when it was part of the medieval fortifications that protected Le Puy-Saint-Front. From the top, there is a lovely view over the tiled roofs, the towers of the mansions, the domes of Saint-Front cathedral and the surrounding hillsides.
