A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is one of the most extensive early Christian cemeteries in Europe, the largest in Hungary... and the pride of Pécs. Lit through glass-panelled roofs, the itinerary is laid out 4-6m underground through a maze of corridors, stairways and footbridges. It begins with the vestiges of the Cella Septichora, the largest building in the cemetery, and continues with the sepulchral chambers, some of which are decorated with frescoes comparable to those in the Catacombs of Rome and the Early Christian Mausoleum.
