This promenade replaced a railway line that ran from the Bastille to the city's suburbs until 1969. Lime trees, hazel trees, climbing plants, rose bushes and aromatic plants add a splash of colour and myriad scents, while the gentle noise of traffic just a few metres below filters upwards. The route offers a unique architectural perspective, as the first section of the walk passes halfway up surrounding buildings, providing close-up views of features barely perceptible from ground level.
