With its bridges, 9 locks and lines of trees, its pond sometimes higher than the embankment, the canal Saint-Martin is a charming spot. A nostalgic stroll, redolent of Simenon's novels (and of course the film Hôtel du Nord) will take you along the Jemmapes or Valmy embankments, and the La Villette lake to Place Frédérick-Lemaître. There, the canal disappears underground to re-emerge at the l'Arsenal marina.
