Built according to the plans of François Mansart, this is without a doubt the most Italianate church in Paris. The dome, lower but more highly decorated than those of the Sorbonne and les Invalides, is inspired by that of St. Peter's in Rome. In the interior, the baroque influence is clear in the sculpted ceiling of the nave, the monumental baldachin, and the eautiful cupola, decorated with a celebrated fresco by Mignard.
