This museum houses items found during the excavations carried out at Ostia. The first rooms are dedicated to crafts (bas-reliefs), the Oriental religious cults which flourished in this trading town, and the Mithras group. Also on display here are a fine statue dedicated to Hercules which represents a man resting, sarcophagi dating from the 2C and 3C found in the town's necropolis, and Imperial portraits from the late Roman period.
