Located opposite the Roman amphitheatre, the Musée de la Romanité, designed by architects Élisabeth and Christian de Portzamparc, aims to establish a dialogue with the Roman city. This beautiful structure, which is dissected by a wide inner street, is the key to understanding Nîmes and its history, and includes the extensive collections of the former archaeological museum. It offers a unique insight into the Nîmes of ancient times and the wealth of its heritage, thanks to its rare, and often, spectacular remains.
